Shooting the Fastest Man

As I am sure you have seen on TV, there are a huge number of photographers here. And although most days they dart around from venue to venue, nearly all of them want to shoot the marquee Olympic event: the men’s 100-meter sprint.

Positions are bought and paid for more than a year out. Negotiations for other positions and for remote camera access Read more

An Afternoon With the Medalists

The women’s eight rowing team has not lost an international competition in six years and this Olympics was no different, winning gold by nearly a boat length over Canada.

And now Amy and I have a little history with this crew.

Dispatches From the Road Races

By Leah (2012 Host)

The Swiss, the Beau, the Hangout

The days are flying by and the torch will be lit before you know it.

It has been a while since the last post, so here are three shorts to make up for it.

The Swiss
By Leah,

The sun is out!

On Friday, the House of Switzerland ski jumped into my neighborhood. They have indoor space in Glaziers Hall, a riverfront building next to London Bridge, and spread their Red Zone into part of Southwark Cathedral’s churchyard. Read more

Olympic Park

Olympic Park, home to many of the venues, the MPC (main press center), the IBC (international broadcast center) and very soon, many thousands of spectators.

The 500-acre park is also home to the athletes’ village and the Orbit, an art installation that will likely see some of the longest lines of the Games. The jury is out on whether the Orbit itself is worth looking at but the views from the top of it are said to be spectacular: both of the park and the city skyline in the distance.
