You have been wondering where we have been. So now is your chance to find us. Amy and I are in this picture somewhere.
I met Amy tonight at the mall for dinner and I mentioned to her that the blogosphere was getting restless. She asked if I had a headline for the next post. I didn’t and I really only had a series of small items. And her suggestion for Hodgepodge for the Needy seemed quite appropriate.
Of course, she has been very busy. What with starting her day with Matt Lauer and ending it with Jamie Oliver. (Delicious meal at Jamie’s Italian.) Photographic evidence of both exists.
Actually, her day started at the basketball arena watching the French women beat Canada and then China beat Angola. It was only after that that she ran into Matt. He was getting his butt kicked at beach volleyball by a couple of American Olympians. Click HERE to see Amy on the Today show.
When I got there to join her for a walk around Olympic Park, Matt was feeding his face during a commercial.
From there I headed to diving to see how my Google+ Hangout partner, Kristian Ipsen, was faring. Quite well, it turns out. He won bronze in the men’s 3-meter synchronized springboard.
I don’t want to take too much credit here, but three of the four divers I dealt with before the Games have won medals. Ipsen today; Nick McCrory won a bronze in the 10-meter synchro; Abby Johnston won silver in 3-meter synchro. (Cassidy Krug dives Sunday). These are the first diving medals by the U.S. since Sydney in 2000. And the first synchronized medals ever for the U.S.
I’m just sayin’.
I believe Leah, our London bureau chief, was at the cycling time trials today. I think that may wrap up her GamesMakers volunteering. I sense a blog post in our future.
Enjoy the pictures from Olympic Park and the Aquatic Center.
