We’ve Been Evicted

Yes, our familiar and comfortable home that we have enjoyed since the Beijing Games has been completely and irrevocably shuttered. So, as Leah2012 is so graciously welcoming us to her beloved London, I am welcoming you to our new address: eatatjoesblog.com.

As you can see, the architecture is different, it is painted a different color and, so far, there aren’t as many rooms to explore. The limited number of rooms may be a good thing because finding your way around this site is a bit like wandering the halls without a night light. Lots of bumping into walls and doors that lead to who knows where. So I have stripped away a lot of things to keep it simple.

But all is not gone from the old neighborhood. Even though the homestead is no longer habitable, the structure still stands.

You can find the old blog here: eatatjoes14.com. And you can also access it in the menu bar above. Just click ‘old blog’ for a walk down Memory Lane.

So, if you are feeling nostalgic, take a look around. The blog posts remain and the pictures still hang on the walls. But, alas, the comments are gone. No echoes of the wisecracks, bad duck jokes and general nutty banter. The comments and the old site were supported by Apple, which is no longer in the Web-hosting business. I could keep the old site going on a new host, but without comments. What kind of party is that?

So, how about a quick tour of the new place? It’s kind of sparse; more modern; not as homey. We’ll have to add the character.

When you enter, the latest, or sometimes the more relevant, post will be the large one across the top; the older ones listed below. The navigation is usually clearly marked. If you get lost, click the home button or the Eat at Joe’s title at the top of the page.

And what home is complete without a bar, or two? In this case, a menu bar which contains the links across the top, and a sidebar, with tweets and links and other goodies.

Once you hit the ‘Read More” button on any of the blogs it will take you to the full blog post. Any pictures associated with it will be displayed below it. Click on the first picture to see them as a slideshow.

Below that, the comments. When entering a comment there are three fields listed to fill in: your email, name and web site. You do not need to enter any of those, although I would prefer you enter your name or comment name. Nobody likes an anonymous commenter.

So stop by Eat at Joe’s often. The door is always open.

And now that I have squeezed every ounce out of this home metaphor, I’ll turn in.

But I’ll leave the light on for you.

Landed, checked in and at the MPC. We actually have windows this year and a view of the Gherkin and the Shard. Leah, or Google, can explain.
